About Me
Sophie Hayward, BA (Hons), MSc, Cert MRCSLT, MASLTIP, HCPC Registered
Hello and welcome to Sophie Hayward | The Speech Studio.
I'm Sophie, a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist providing bespoke therapy services for children and young people, together with their families across Essex and Suffolk.
My goal is to create a supportive, nurturing environment where children and young people feel understood, valued, and empowered to develop their communication skills with confidence. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and I am committed to delivering expert, individualised support that is tailored to their unique strengths, needs, and goals.
I graduated from the University of Essex with a Master's degree in Speech and Language Therapy in 2015 and have spent the past eleven years supporting children and young people aged 1–25 with a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working across a variety of settings, including clinics, language units, mainstream and specialist schools, nurseries, charities, and family homes, both in the UK and internationally. These experiences have shaped my approach to therapy, allowing me to create engaging, creative, and meaningful interventions that place the child, their families and wider support network, at the heart of the process.
I provide comprehensive assessments and bespoke therapy programmes designed around your child's individual needs. Working collaboratively with parents, caregivers, and educational professionals, I strive to ensure that every child and young person receives the support they need to develop their communication skills, build confidence, and reach their speech, language and communication potential.

My approach
I am passionate about supporting children with their speech, language and communication needs. I feel play, creativity and energy regulation are the foundation skills needed to effectively support language and learning opportunities. I firmly believe that children learn best through play when they feel safe, motivated and engaged.
I use play to create meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences that support children’s language development, ensuring child-led, play-based and neuro-affirming principles are embedded into my therapy approach. We all learn more effectively through play; let’s make learning fun!
