This includes gathering a detailed case history, assessing your child's speech, language and communication skills using formal and/or informal assessments as appropriate, and developing a personalised and tailored therapy plan with recommendations.

You will receive a brief summary report outlining the assessment findings and recommendations.

You will receive a detailed report including an in-depth analysis and interpretation of the assessment findings, along with comprehensive recommendations and suggested targets and next steps.

Visits to your child's educational setting can be arranged to observe how they communicate and engage in the classroom and whole-school setting.

Visits can be carried out as part of a detailed assessment, or to work closely with school staff to better understand and support your child’s speech, language and communication needs, demonstrate strategies to support their development and generalisation of skills, and to meet with you and the school team to agree on the best plan to help your child reach their full communication potential.

Therapy sessions will start after an initial assessment has identified your child’s speech, language and communication needs for therapy intervention.

Therapy sessions last 45 minutes, and each session is tailored to your child’s needs and are based on current evidence-based practices, with progress reviewed regularly. Therapy sessions take place in home or education settings. Following each session, you will receive feedback and practical activities and ideas to support your child’s progress at home.

Summary reports are available for families whose child has already received therapy input. These summary reports provide an overview of your child's speech, language and communication strengths and needs, the therapy they have received, and the progress they have made. These reports also include recommendations for next steps and can be shared to support One Planning meetings, review meetings, onward referrals, or transitions to a new educational setting.

Our speech and language therapy assessment and report for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) provides a comprehensive picture of your child's speech, language and communication needs, and how these may be affecting their learning, social interactions, and everyday life.

The assessment includes a detailed case history, observations of your child's communication skills (including classroom observations where appropriate), and a range of formal and/or informal assessments tailored to their individual needs. We work closely with families, carers, school staff, and other professionals, where required, to develop a thorough understanding of your child's strengths and areas of need. Following the assessment, you will receive a clear, detailed report including the analysis and explanation of the assessment scores and findings, identifying your child's current needs, and outlining the provision required to support their progress. The report also includes personalised recommendations, therapy targets, and suggested outcomes to help inform the EHCP process and ensure your child receives the support they need.

We believe that working closely with the wider team around your child is an important part of providing effective support and therapy input. By working together, we can ensure that your child receives consistent and effective support that meets their individual needs.

Our therapists are happy to communicate and collaborate with other professionals involved in your child’s care, including attending multi-disciplinary team meetings and discussions with key people involved in supporting your child. These meetings can take place in person or virtually, depending on what works best for your family and the wider team.

To make our services as accessible as possible, we offer home and schools visits so that your child can be seen at a location best suited for them.

Our therapists are based in Colchester. There are no travel costs for appointments within a 30-minute drive. For appointments further afield, a travel fee of £40 per hour and mileage costs at 45p per mile will apply.
